Roof pitch Florida code

What fits your roof’s pitch?

The slope of a roof decides which systems Florida’s building code allows on it. Pick a pitch and see what fits.

Choose a roof pitch

Under 2:12: a low-slope roof

Porches, additions, carports and many commercial roofs sit nearly flat. Shingles are not allowed this low, so the roof needs a low-slope system.

2:12 to 4:12: a low pitch

Shingles are allowed here, but the code calls for a double layer of underlayment under them. Standing seam is a strong fit too.

4:12 and up: a standard pitched roof

Most systems work here, so the choice comes down to looks, heat and budget. We walk you through it at the free inspection.

Five things to check before you call.

Stay off the roof. These are all visible from the yard or from inside the house.

  1. Shingles in the yardPieces on the lawn or in the street mean something came off up top.
  2. Lifted or creased tabsWind can fold a shingle back and break its seal without tearing it off.
  3. Dark or bare patchesMissing shingles leave underlayment showing, often near edges and ridges.
  4. Limbs on or over the roofEven a branch that bounced off can puncture shingles or dent vents.
  5. New stains insideA fresh ceiling stain after a storm means water found a way in.

Spot any of these? Call (813) 461-0751. We come look and show you photos of the damage that you can share with your insurer.

Do you repair roofs, or only replace them?

Both. Not every leak needs a new roof.

Can you add hurricane clips or peel-and-stick underlayment?

Google reviewers had hurricane clips added and chose extra peel-and-stick underlayment on their re-roofs with us.

Ask about both at your inspection.

What areas do you serve?

Lutz, Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel, Odessa, Tampa and Zephyrhills, plus nearby communities in Pasco and north Hillsborough.

Paying for it Financing

A roof is rarely a planned purchase.

Most people find out they need a roof the week it starts leaking. U First Roofing works with HFS Financial so you can spread the cost instead of putting the job off.

  • No equity required
  • Fixed-rate loans
  • Funds paid direct to you

Those are HFS Financial’s terms, and HFS states that inquiring does not affect your credit score. Rates, amounts and approval are decided by HFS, not by U First Roofing.
